Great Escape

"In order to cater to couples and backpackers, the architectural approach must skillfully encapsulate the site's contours, offering a seamless experiential journey. A Balinese aesthetic, complemented by the use of indigenous materials, serves as the foundation for an authentic and harmonious design synthesis."

"Our design strategy is centered around the strategic utilization of the magnificent panoramic views offered by the location in Kuta Lombok. With an expansive 180-degree vista of the pristine ocean, we endeavor to intricately weave these stunning natural elements into the architectural composition, creating a harmonious and immersive experience for our clients."

Things that we put into consideration while designing the project were,

  1. Use the contours of the site to create a sense of movement and flow throughout the space. The architecture should be designed to follow the contours of the site, making use of the natural slope and elevations to create a sense of progression and movement.

  2. Incorporate traditional Balinese elements into the design. Incorporate traditional elements like thatched roofs, wooden beams, and decorative carvings to give the architecture a Balinese look and feel. You could also use local materials like bamboo and teak wood in construction.

  3. Maximize the views of the ocean. The site's location with 180 degrees of perfect views into the ocean should be the main feature of the architecture, to make sure that the views are fully taken advantage of, use large windows and open spaces to connect the interior to the exterior, creating an uninterrupted ocean view.

  4. Create a sense of privacy and seclusion. To appeal to couples and backpackers, consider creating a sense of privacy and seclusion. This could be achieved through the use of walls, screens, and landscaping to create a sense of seclusion within the space.

  5. Create a sense of connection to nature. The architecture should also be designed to create a sense of connection to nature. This could be achieved by using natural materials and incorporating indoor-outdoor spaces, such as terraces and balconies, to connect the interior spaces to the outdoors.

  6. Incorporate sustainable elements in the design. As for being eco-friendly and sustainable, consider incorporating sustainable elements such as rainwater harvesting, greywater reuse, and solar power into the design.

  7. Create a sense of community. A shared common area such as a swimming pool, lounge or dining area would be great to create a sense of community among guests.

Ultimately, our goal of the architecture should be to create a sense of connection to the site and the surrounding environment, while also incorporating the traditional Balinese style and utilizing local materials to create a unique and memorable experience for couples and backpackers.
